Yew trees

Considered to be possibly the oldest tree from Europe

The Yew is an interesting type of tree as drooping branches of old yew trees can root and form new trunks where they touch the ground. For a yard, the yew is perfect for topiary, giving off a sense of dignity and intrigue. For a park in urban areas, the yew gives local wildlife much-needed shelter and shade. Yews are vulnerable to several types of pests, fungi, and diseases that can threaten the tree if not actively maintained by pruning and spraying for these issues. When taken care of, a yew can live up to its reputation as long lived and prosperous.
